Subject: Triumph fuses etc
Hope this all helps;
Proper English made Lucas, Unipart and equivalent fuses are marked with both their contiuous rating and instaneous blow current. In all cases, the rated capacity of the fuse (as per Triumph book) is TWICE the continuous current capacity, ie a 50 amp fuse is not meant to run more than a 25 amp circuit.
Originally Lucas settled on a colour coding but this has now been superceded [the original colorcodes are]:
|
Rated Capacity (Amperes) |
Colours |
|---|---|
|
5 |
Red print on yellow paper |
|
10 |
Green on black |
|
15 |
Black on lt. brown |
|
25 |
Black on pink |
|
35 |
Black on white |
|
50 |
Purple on yellow |
|
60 |
Yellow on red |
[Ed. Note: These fuses predate the TR6, and are (as far as I know) not recommended or needed for concours. If I'm wrong, somebody correct me!]
If anyone is having troubles getting correct length or rated English fuses, we have stocks here in Australia.
